Proverbs 31:25 “She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.”
1 Peter 4:12 “My dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful test you are suffering, as though something unusual were happening to you.
I remember, staying at a hotel on Dauphine Island, reading a sign in the bathroom, of all places, that read something to the effect of… How you spend your days is how you spend your life. This is a very strong thought. Sobering even.
Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you. ~ Jim Rohn
There are many life hacks that can help create success in our lives, if we will take the energy we are using being frustrated or disappointed in our present state of existence and pour it into moving forward and trying new “things”. If we do what we have been doing thus far we will continually see what we have ben seeing coming through. Who doesn’t want to reach success? Life hacking is a great way to get there… Consider:
- Start your day early, reality check
- DO hard things first
- Plan, make a list, and stick to the plan
- Eliminate your distractions
- Identify your motivation behind choices you are making
- Set time limits for yourself
Often I find myself feeling adrift… Knowing where I want to be and where I am but considering maybe I am going about the journey the “wrong” way or spinning my wheels when there may be a better way to accomplish something.
I am a journaler, whether that means writing or doodling my thoughts I try to get the down where I can physically see whats in my head. When my thoughts stay banging around in my noggin they seem to grow to a mammoth proportion until they are written out and suddenly I find them in perspective.
I personally desire to leave a legacy for my loved ones to follow and expound upon when I am gone. Sometimes I find myself entertaining such thoughts as… what will be if I am no longer… or How will people remember me if I were gone tomorrow… Will I leave goodness or destruction? I have a deep desire to leave the world better than I found it and to instill in those I influence the same. I try to use my answers as a means to motivate me to do more, change more, and give more. Questions like these are not unique to me however some who ask them of self often ask them too late to change the outcome that may or may not be desirable.
Are you willing to allow big corporations to dictate an acceptance to a mediocre life? Fighting with others, wanting more “stuff”, stepping on others to get ahead, and experimenting with altered states of mind through various means. All of this is a waste of time and creates pain and regret. How do we break this cycle?
- Contribute beyond yourself
- Create, create, create
- Be a role model, someone worth following
- Love, keep loving, and don’t stop loving
- Do good not to receive, just to do good
- Inspire others, people need reminded they are worth investment
- Volunteer to make change
- Make history for those you touch to have a reference
This is obviously not a complete list but I believe it is a launching point. What have you found that is making a difference? Television is consuming, video games are time eaters, and lets not even get started on sleeping away half the day. At some point everyone must get tired of the same old story. At some point life hacking will be a place to start.
Time marches on as the cliche states and that is whether or not you are moving forward or not. I strive to move forward in hopes of not looking up someday and wondering where time went.
Find something you are passionate about, seek out your talent or expound on what you know you have, and try new things. Nothing will change unless people like you and I stand up and make it happen. Lets be the loudest voices society hears. There are plenty of negative influences out there shouting and flailing about getting plenty of undeserved attention for their cause. If we want to see good come to people we love we must first be the good and show the love and give to others. There are always opportunities to give.
